Perbuatan Manasye dengan membuat mezbah – mezbah baal di Bait Allah itu merupakan kesengajaan Manasye untuk menentang Tuhan.

“Ia menegakkan kembali mezbah Tuhan, mempersembahkan korban keselamatan dan korban syukur di atasnya, menyerukan kepada Yehuda untuk beribadah kepada Tuhan, Allah Israel.”
